Save Water. Save Money. Protect Our Resources
Upgrading older household fixtures and appliances with high-efficiency WaterSense® labeled products is a simple way to reduce water use, lower utility costs, and help protect our community’s water resources.
The Grafton Water District is pleased to offer rebates to customers who replace older, less efficient toilets and clothes washing machines with qualifying WaterSense® labeled models.
Water conservation is an important part of maintaining a reliable water supply. By choosing efficient products, customers can help reduce daily water demand while enjoying the benefits of newer, higher-performing appliances.
TOILETS
Toilets are one of the largest sources of indoor water use in many homes. Older toilets can use significantly more water per flush than today’s efficient models.
WaterSense® labeled toilets are independently certified to meet strict standards for both efficiency and performance. These models use 1.28 gallons per flush or less, which is at least 20% more efficient than the current federal standard of 1.6 gallons per flush.
Replacing older toilets with WaterSense® labeled models can help households save thousands of gallons of water each year. Efficient toilets may also help reduce water and wastewater costs while providing improved performance.
If you have an older toilet that frequently runs, leaks, or requires repairs, replacing it with a qualifying WaterSense® model may provide additional savings.
CLOTHES WASHING MACHINES
High-efficiency clothes washing machines provide excellent cleaning performance while using significantly less water and energy than older models.
Modern WaterSense® labeled and high-efficiency washing machines are available in both front-load and top-load designs, allowing customers to choose a model that fits their household needs.
Older washing machines may use 29–45 gallons of water per load, while newer high-efficiency models typically use approximately 15–30 gallons per load. Over the life of the appliance, upgrading can provide substantial savings on both water and energy costs.
Customers may also qualify for additional rebates or incentives through energy efficiency programs. Visit Mass Save® for information on available energy-related rebates and programs.
