🚧 PFAS Treatment Plant Construction Update 🚧
Construction continues to make great progress at both our East Street and Worcester Street PFAS Water Treatment Plant sites. Along with these sites we are working with Contractors on the Trinity connecting to Follette St plant.
With both treatment plants and water main installation under construction simultaneously, each phase brings us closer to providing long-term PFAS treatment and ensuring a safe, reliable drinking water supply for our community.
At the East Street site, construction of the clearwell foundation: The clearwell is a storage structure that will hold treated drinking water after it passes through the PFAS filtration system before it enters the distribution system. What was previously just a cleared construction site has now transformed into an active construction area, with the clearwell structure taking shape as crews continue foundation work.
At the Worcester Street site, construction of the clearwell foundation: marking another significant step toward construction of the treatment facility after months of underground level work the project is now moving above the ground as the clearwell structure begins to rise.
Connecting the Trinity Avenue Well to the New PFAS Treatment Plant: Temporary paving is being done on Follette street where a new watermain has been installed. The watermain will be used to transmit water from the Trinity ave well to the future treatment plant on Follette street. The future treatment plant is in the design stage with an estimated construction start date in the summer of 2027.
These projects are remaining on schedule, which is a positive indicator as construction continues. Staying on track helps maintain momentum, reduces the risk of delays, and supports the overall goal of completing the work efficiently and within budget.
